Senior / Principal Scientist (Water quality & catchment)

FRS-UK are actively recruiting for a Senior / Principal Scientist with experience in water quality and catchment to join a well-established and highly respected consultancy based in South Oxfordshire.

The successful candidate will help design smart, resilient solutions across both natural and built environments. Working on both consultancy projects and broad ranging research programmes on environmental water management, climate change and water resources. You will further develop your skills through externally and internally funded research, as well as through collaboration, training and mentoring from colleagues.

About the role
We want you to further develop our portfolio of research and consultancy work in our water quality services. You will provide technical advice to teams delivering proposals and projects on water quality, catchment management and water resources management.
You will take on Project Director, Project Manager, Bid Manager and potentially line management roles. You will:

undertake data analysis

develop and use water quality models

prepare reports and proposals

attend meetings with colleagues and clients.

About you
With a background of an environmental related degree ideally you will also be a Chartered Scientist. You would be able to demonstrate significant experience of water quality modelling in a catchment management and/or water resources management context, with a good understanding of the UK water industry and its regulations. You should have a strong interest in hydraulics, hydrology, hydrogeology, nature-based solutions, blue-green infrastructure, water resources, and the water environment.

You will need to show experience in the application and/or development of numerical models; and some programming experience (skills in Python and/or the R statistical package etc.) would be advantageous.
Experience of managing and delivering complex projects, proposal writing, and winning work is a prerequisite. You will also be able to show us your success at line and project management of teams.
