FRS-UK are working with a specialist consultancy who offer research and services to help to protect vulnerable communities, improve lives and create resilience in the built and natural environments.

Due to their continued success, we are recruiting for a Port/Maritime Engineer to join their growing engineering team. You will work predominantly on commercial projects that spans across ports, harbours, marinas, breakwaters and coastal flood protection schemes, alongside opportunities to be involved in research projects, looking increasingly at climate change adaptation.
The Senior Maritime Engineer will support Principal Engineers on port and maritime projects focussing on project design and management, along with opportunities to work in our physical modelling laboratories.
Key qualifications and skills

Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Civil or Structural Engineering) or equivalent

Meng/ MSc specialising in Port, Maritime, Geotechnical, Coastal Engineering, or equivalent desirable.

Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartered Engineer status.

Experience of working in a consultancy or an engineering organisation covering all aspects of engineering design

Awareness and experience of applying the principles of sustainability to infrastructure engineering.

Familiarity with port and maritime design, either under BS 6349, API RP2A, or other internationally recognised Maritime Design Standard or Guidelines.

Some knowledge of construction methods, plant and equipment that is used in the construction of port and maritime projects would be beneficial.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office software is essential, along with a working knowledge of CAD, and structural design software (SAP2000, STAAD, Robot).

Skilled in planning in the short and long-term, with the ability to manage changing priorities.

Ability to take the initiative, find solutions and proactively drive progress

High levels of professional pride and attention to detail.

Good communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to articulate with credibility to persuade and influence.
