Interim Finance Director
Goole, West Yorkshire

We are actively recruiting for an Interim Finance Director to join a well-established and fast-growing property and security company based in Goole.

The fixed-term contract will run from 1st June 2023 for one year to cover maternity leave.

Purpose of the Role

As a member of the Senior Executive Team to oversee all financial aspects of the business and drive the group’s financial strategy and planning. Helping lead the strategic direction of the company and developing and directing the company’s financial plans and policies.

 

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the finance function for the business, ensuring the integrity of the accounting policies and standards and the financial governance of the business.

  • Leadership and development of the Finance team.

  • Safeguarding the group assets and financial resources to ensure that all are utilised to maximise profitability.

  • Lead all financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management, ensuring that Group requirements are adhered to.

  • Overall cash management including responsibility for cash management policies, forecasting and approval of payment runs, including weekly and monthly payroll.

  • Overall control of all financial transactions and accountancy matters, ensuring compliance with Group reporting requirements.

  • Driving the financial planning by analysing its performance and managing risk.

  • Working capital management to improve financial performance and liquidity.

  • Develop strategies to increase return on investment and profitability.

  • Continuously improve and develop internal controls and processes.

  • Work alongside our external financial advisers in managing the external audit.

  • Preparation of departmental monthly management accounts and investigation of variances, ensuring the accuracy of the balance sheet.

  • Act as a key business partner across the Senior Management Team, providing sound financial advice.

  • Evaluation and monitoring of capital expenditure, ensuring the correct approval procedures are adhered to.

  • Overall responsibility for VAT and PAYE.

  • Insurance and risk management.

  • Support the MD in tracking performance against key financial metrics.

 

Key Skills and Experience

  • At least 5 years' working at a senior management level, ideally in an SME which has undergone short term business growth.

  • Commercially astute, articulate and technically strong with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.

  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills.

  • Highly numerate with strong reporting and analysis capabilities.

  • Able to work under own initiative.

  • Able to work under pressure and to tight timescales when required.

  • Confident and highly motivated.

  • Able to facilitate, implement and manage change.

 

Qualifications and Training

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with post qualified experience.

  • Strong technical accounting skills and experience.

  • Good MS Office skills – Word, Excel, Outlook etc.

  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle.

  • Commercially astute, articulate and technically strong with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.

  • Previous experience leading a finance team.

  • Diligent with excellent attention to detail.

  • Able to stay calm under pressure.

  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic.

 

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £65,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
